In 2013, Associazione Giochi Antichi (AGA) started a process of identification, research and documentation of ludic practices and “traditional ludic communities” (as groups of players are defined in the 2007 AGA Manifesto), discovering an invisible “Italy playing”. In 2015, a book was published telling this first journey, network between communities and “self-documentation”. In 2017 born the project “IN GIOCO. Communities in network for the safeguarding of the Lombard ludic heritage”, with the support of the Lombardy Region. Following the criteria and rules of participatory inventories of intangible heritage, the work then continues both in Veneto, with participation a new Regional Register and at the national level, with the participation in the ” Geoportale della Cultura Alimentare”, coordinated by the
Central Institute of Intangible Heritage (ICPI) of the Ministry of Culture. Different working
moments will give the floor to the institutions that support the work in progress and to some valuable experiences of the international partnership. In the introduction, we will hear a preview presentation of a toolkit on participatory documentation methods.
