Since 2016, the International Symposium “Tocatì, a shared heritage” reunites in Verona institutional personalities and communities of the network of the nomination of Tocatì to the Register of Good Practices for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, dedicating a moment of strategic reflection on themes of common interest. The 2023 edition of the Symposium, the result of collaboration with the Cultural Institutions of the partnership
countries – Italy, Belgium, Cyprus, Croatia and France, takes place in an exceptionally important context as the Convention is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
An opportunity to take stock and participate in celebrating its global success. To celebrate this anniversary, the European Heritage Days are dedicated this year to Living Heritage! The Tocatì Programme was registered on the 1st December 2022, in Rabat during the 17th Intergovernmental Committee of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Register of Good Conservation Practices. This is the first International Symposium since its registration.
The use of the Register is promoted by UNESCO as an innovative and strategic tool for the future of the intangible heritage and the Convention. In order to respond to the importance of this context and to the requests of the international and national network partners, this edition of the Symposium will be dedicated to an update and a shared reflection on the use of the Register of Good Practices at international, national and local levels.
