In the 24th edition of Tocatì, Ireland meets Italy through play. From the counties of Ireland to the squares and streets of Verona, the Festival becomes a meeting place for traditions that continue to thrive thanks to the communities that practise and pass them on.
As the Guest of Honour for the 2026 edition, Ireland brings its traditional games and sports to Verona, from the fast-paced excitement of Hurling to disciplines that have been preserved within local communities for centuries. Alongside them, Italy’s traditional games showcase the richness and diversity of the country’s playful heritage, while board games and urban games invite visitors to rediscover the joy of challenge, strategy and ingenuity. Tocatì is also a place for children, who will have the opportunity to play, explore and learn through activities designed to introduce new generations to the rich heritage of traditional games.
Every game tells a story, reflects a place and belongs to a community. Together, they show how play is a living cultural heritage, capable of bringing together people from different places and generations.

Ireland arrives in Verona bringing with it the rhythm of hurling and the traditional games and sports that still animate its counties from north to south. It is a culture of the body and the team, tied for centuries to village life, grown in the fields as much as in the streets, and one that Tocatì welcomes this year as Guest of Honour Country.
