Senturel

The Senturel event has its roots in the tradition of San Zeno di Montagna and takes place every year on the Monday following the first Sunday of September, as part of the celebration of the Madonna della Cintura, locally known as Madonna della Sentura. Born as a secular continuation of this religious celebration, the event is now a unique itinerant bocce competition that brings the village streets and hamlets to life for an entire day. The pairs of players, drawn at the beginning of the competition, first compete in group rounds and then in knockout stages, aiming to get their bocce balls as close as possible to the smaller target ball, the boccino, just as in traditional bocce.

The distinctive feature of Senturel is the absence of a dedicated playing field: the matches unfold along unpaved streets and open spaces, following the route through the village in a blend of skill, conviviality, and tradition, preserving one of the most authentic expressions of local culture. At the Tocatì Festival, the streets of Verona will also become the playing field for Senturel, offering the public the chance to discover and experience this unique traditional game.
