Penàcio is a historic game played in the village of Breonio (VR) and in the surrounding areas. Historically, it was played in informal spaces such as courtyards and village streets, and therefore it does not have a well-defined set of rules nor a specific playing field. Two or more players take turns striking the penacio from below, hitting it upward like a rudimentary shuttlecock. To do so, participants use batarele, which can be described as wooden rackets. The game is not about scoring, and the main satisfaction comes from the sharp sound produced when the penacio is successfully hit with the batarela.
