Traditional fight practiced during the cold festivities of Boxing Day, the Galhofa is typical of the Bragança district. Its name seems to have Spanish origins and indicates the distribution
of bread to pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago. The practice sees a oneto-one confrontation between the wrestlers, who, to win the fight, has to put the opponent on the ground. The
Luta da Galhofa, with strong competitive spirit, involves young people and adults demonstrating their physical prowess and the superiority of their village over their opponent.
