One of the oldest games in human history: Go. It has remained essentially unchanged over the centuries and only recently entered the Western world, reaching Europe at the end of the 19th century. Despite having very simple rules, Go is considered one of the most complex games in existence. It was introduced to Japan in 735 AD, but only after centuries did the game spread from the nobility to all levels of society, becoming so popular that Go academies were founded. It teaches strategy, patience, and respect, and even today it is one of the most widely played mind sports, with millions of players worldwide.
