The Conker Battle! In this game, two players face off, each equipped with a piece of string and a firm, sturdy chestnut. The preparations are very simple: using a nail, poke a hole through the chestnut and thread the string through it, then tie a knot. Holding the string taut, the goal is to strike and damage your opponent’s chestnut. Each player gets 7 consecutive hits per turn, and the first one to break the opponent’s chestnut wins. But watch out: some traditional variants ban “seasoned” chestnuts (hardened with chimney smoke) because they are considered cheating.
