The game of walnuts dates back to the Roman Empire, but it’s also deeply tied to the Ligurian cultural tradition and its gastronomy. Walnuts were, in fact, a precious ingredient that women tried to gain through the game, and thus be able to bring to the table this expensive food. In Monterosso al Mare, an ancient seaside village in the middle of a small natural gulf, there are still about a hundred players who together with the Consorzio Turistico 5 Terre continue to pass down the history of walnuts.
