Waiting for Tocatì
Tocatì returns from September 19th to 21st to brighten the streets of Veronetta.
But that’s not all: the festival will be anticipate by various initiatives in the days leading up to the opening, to prepare the city’s atmosphere to welcome the Māori people, game enthusiasts, experts in travel, pedagogy, and other themes dear to the festival, but above all, visitors who wish to join in and play with us.
You can discover these projects below.

On Thursday 18th September at 3 pm
As part of the collaboration with the University of Verona, a session will be dedicated to sharing good practices and educational methods on the themes of traditional games, sport, health, and well-being.
The meeting will be led by Prof. Schena, joined by a group of PhD students from the Department and a Māori delegation.
This will be an opportunity for dialogue and exchange of ideas, including a section dedicated to the games of the Guest of Honour.
On Thursday, September 18 at 6:00 PM, Room SMT06, Santa Marta University Campus
In 2024, Tocatì arrived in Veronetta. The importance of the neighborhood had already been highlighted through the project “La Veronetta del Tocatì. Points of Historical and Architectural Interest”, born from the collaboration between Associazione Giochi Antichi (AGA), AGILE Aps, and Cocai Aps.
The project produced 57 entries that guide citizens and visitors on a journey through the streets of Verona, telling the history of the neighborhood through images and words.
This year, “La Veronetta del Tocatì” returns with a new edition, which will be presented on Thursday, September 18 at 6:00 PM in the SMT06 Room of the Santa Marta University Campus, in Cantarane Street, 24. The meeting, open to the public, will be a valuable opportunity to discover how historical memory, research, and collective participation can intertwine in the enhancement of a neighborhood and its community.
This year marks the beginning of the collaboration between Tocatì and Andarò, two festivals of very different ages that will share many common values during two September weekends. Our activities will come together on Sunday, September 14th: the Hermete cooperative will bring various traditional games (from carrom to backgammon to pétanque) at Andarò, which in turn will share musical moments with us during the evenings of Tocatì.
You can find the Andarò festival from September 12th to 14th at Montorio Castle, featuring a full program of workshops (from printing to recycling to ceramics), activities for children, talks, and plenty of music.

On the morning of Friday, September 19th, the Massalongo Elementary School and the Duca d’Aosta Middle School will take part in a series of workshops led by representatives of the Māori delegation and educators from AGA APS.
The initiative aims to promote intercultural education through direct interaction with members of the Māori delegation, foster knowledge of the traditions, myths, arts, and values of New Zealand’s Māori culture, and stimulate dialogue and curiosity about different cultures through immersive, playful, and educational experiences.

On Friday, September 19th at 10:00 AM, the 8th edition of the Grenze Arsenali Fotografici International Photography Festival will be inaugurated. On the occasion of Tocatì, Grenze and AGA are collaborating on a distributed photographic exhibition throughout Veronetta: from September 19th to October 20th, the photograph “Children Playing in Goražde, Bosnia 1995” by Dario Mitidieri will be on display.
Get ready to spot it around the neighbourhood: the photograph will be posted throughout Veronetta to bring the playful atmosphere of Tocatì not only during the festival days but throughout the following month.
