Schida is the wooden board on which polenta is served. But what does it have to do with a game? This activity dates back to Roman times: it was played by Julius Caesar’s troops, and later by the people of Turin under the House of Savoy as well as by the Gonzaga family in Mantua. Records of tournaments of this game can be found throughout Italy, even in France and Great Britain; today, instead, you can rediscover it in Verona at Tocatì festival.
