There is a moment when the game becomes light, yet no less intense: it’s the Zugo de l’Ovo, a historic tradition from Sezano, a small community in Valpantena, which since the post-war years has celebrated each year the art of the perfect throw.
The rules are simple, but the outcome is never certain: mixed pairs of all ages challenge each other by tossing a raw egg, held only in their hands. With every exchange, they take a step backward. The flight of the egg becomes a delicate thread of trust, complicity, and a touch of daring. One wrong move, one moment of distraction, and the egg breaks amid general laughter. Whoever remains in the game until the end, with their egg still intact, wins.
But here, it’s not just about winning: it’s about being together, honoring a custom born in the ’50s and proudly passed down through courtyards, fields, and village festivals. The Zugo de l’Ovo is a collective ritual that tells the story of simplicity and precision, community, and shared memory.
