If Australia is by definition the Country Down Under, New Zealand deserves it even more, as she is often left out of maps. It is a popular destination particularly among young people, that here can combine travel, work, volunteering and self-discovery; it promotes ecotourism, thanks to its national parks and the variety of natural landscapes (active volcanoes, beaches, rainforests, glacial lakes). New Zealand is the land of adventure tourism (bungee jumping was born here) and is very popular also for Hollywood casts: many films are set here, starting from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. We will discuss about this and much more with Claudio Visentin, President of Scuola del Viaggio, and with Angelo Pittro, Director of Lonely Planet Italia, the most important publisher for international travel guides, founded in Australia. The conversation will be led by Luigi Licci of Libreria Gulliver.

Info
Claudio Visentin teaches Tourism history at Università della Svizzera Italiana and has founded Scuola del Viaggio. He studies and tells new travel styles on «Domenica», the Sunday insert of «Sole24Ore». He has published “Passeggiate nei piccoli cimiteri” (Ediciclo, 2023), “Luci sul mare. Viaggio tra i fari della Scozia sino alle isole Orcadi e Shetland” (Ediciclo, 2022), “Alla ricerca di don Chisciotte” (Ediciclo, 2016) with Stefano Faravelli, “In viaggio con l’asino” (Guanda, 2009) with Andrea Bocconi.

Angelo Pittro has a passion for travel that comes from an intolerance to a twenty years long experience in office work. For this reason, he is constantly looking for excuses to travel and often finds them, for his and his colleagues’ joy (who can finally work peacefully when he is away). He is currently the Director of Lonely Planet Italia.
