A journey into Verona’s bell-ringing tradition
This itinerary leads to the discovery of steeples and their bells, exceptionally open to everyone.
A.S.C.S.V. (lit. “Church Bell-ringers of Verona Association”) (www.campanesistemaveronese.it) today counts 85 teams – 2600 bell-ringers – in Verona, Vicenza, Brescia, Padua and Mantua. Since 1983 they’ve been working hard to preserve and hand down the tradition of manually ringing bells: rope, arms, hands and heart to perform a kind of art with extremely ancient roots that falls under the category of sacred art.
