This game is another important member of the Quilles family: the goal is to knock down all the quilles except one, reason for which it’s also called “Cinq quilles à battre” (lit. “Five quilles to knock down”). In the South-West of France it’s played in the open, 3 against 3, on a platform called “plantier” made of clay, gravel or simple bitumen earth at the extremity of which the quilles are positioned: 3 smaller ones in front and 3 bigger ones in the back.
At 11m from the platform there’s the “throwing ground” from where the players throw a wooden cylinder to knock the quilles to the ground. The distance can be shortened based on the sex and age of participants: come discover the perfect one for you at the game station!
