Pétanque is the older sister of the Italian game Petanca, a specialty in the Boules sports family that started in 1907 in Provence and came from “Provencal games”. It seems to have its origins in Gaul: in that era the balls were made of clay, then they started being made of stone and after that of wood; in 1927 the first steel ball was made, replacing the traditional wooden ones with studs that Felix Rohfritsch created in 1930. At Tocatì you’ll discover the history and secrets of this ancient game, nominated as a possible new discipline for the 2024 Olympics by Confédération Mondiale des Sports de Boules.
