This ancient game played at Treia in the Marche region, by players of different ages, both male and female, is characterized by a very particular and curious game tool: the “bracciale” (lit. “armband”). Worn by the players, its use is to hit the ball and return it, in the air or after one bounce. The teams, each one representing one of the city’s districts and bearing its colors, are formed of three players and a mandarino, who has the major role of pitching the ball to the beater who then starts the game. At Tocatì, thanks to our friends of Ente Disfida del Bracciale of Treia, Macerata, you’ll get to try an ancient game that’s been written about by poets and illustrious writers like Leopardi and De Amicis.
In case of rain the artisan workshop will be held at the Teatro Nuovo
