Knowing the words connected to school experience – fear, enthusiasm, shame, sharing, integration, exclusion, empathy, identity, equity – and what they sound like between school desks is important. Because in the classroom you learn the right words to understand yourself, others, and
the world. And life. Mariapia Veladiano knows the school system and kids very well, because before writing novels, winning prestigious prizes and becoming well- known to the public, she taught literature in high school for over twenty years, and then became the principal. She also knows the professors very well, their working in increasingly difficult conditions, their dealing with a profession that has lost prestige and recognition, their making up for the merciless ministerial cuts with staff resources (and not just in spirit). Chiara Stella and Claudio Girelli, Professor of experimental
Pedagogy at the University of Verona, will talk with the author.
