Wari belongs to the large family of mancala: the sowing games. Very widespread in Africa (Senegal, Gabon, Mali, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Nigeria, Ghana, etc.) but also in the Caribbean (Antigua and Barbados), it is known by a multitude of different names depending on the area of origin. Wari has several variants such as the Nsa Isong, suitable for children, the Hoyto of Santo Domingo and the only Mancala game considered “traditional” in Europe, the Bohnenspiel: the German “Beans Game”. At the game station you will find the educators and artists of the African Museum of Verona who will make you travel through these faraway lands to discover new worlds.
For the 2020 special edition of Tocatì, the sowing game will move outdoors to the Comboni Missionaries Park, an evocative setting for the game boards, where adults and children can challenge each other. The African sowing game is an opportunity for people to meet each other. It will also be possible to visit, independently and safely, the African Museum, held outdoors for the occasion.
